A Long Day, A Longer Night (Strike that.. Week)

So sorry I haven't updated in awhile. Let's get caught up (AKA, Kayla will rant on the beautiful days of her teenage life and motherhood).
I have (as of right now) missed out on two AP English assignments (and when I say "miss out" I mean my perfectionist attitude or extreme writer's block has gotten in the way) and I'm pretty sure I'm a full chapter behind in Pre-Calculus. Which is just fantastic! =/ Like I said before, I drown in homework.
And, on top of this, Homecoming Week is coming up, and Seniors (as tradition) are supposed to utterly dominate the class competitions. And, in the wonderfully lazy spirit of the Class of 2011, practically no one wants to do, or if they want to they "can't work it out." And don't get me wrong, if you legitimately can't work it out, fine, understandable.
But that was ridiculous. Life has been so busy lately, it's taken me a week of writing during lunch (when not checking out the wonderful College and Career Center now set up) and bits at night before bed, I am exhausted! Homecoming---thank god it's over, is all I have to say! The week has dragged on and I am so glad it's all over. Now to catch up on my homework! (see above, haha)
I've been working on Homecoming stuff (though not as much as others and shout-out to them for being so awesome!) and now, after a conversation with my favorite guidance counselor, like, ever! I will hopefully soon be pulling together senior prom, because, in the nature of my class, no one can get together to do anything. SO! Busy busy.
In other news, my baby boy has been sick. :/ He's getting better; his week was kinda jarred in a car accident. Thankfully no one was badly injured, and Adam was just scared more than anything. He's being his happy normal self which is just fantastic.
On the Job Hunt Front, still nothing. I'm working on making those teddy bears for charity, and trying to gather up fleece for the blankets for cancer patients. I don't remember if I've actually said yet on here or not, but I'm making teddy bears for children oncology ward(s) and fleece blankets for chemotherapy patients so they don't get cold. So far, I've got like three bears and one blanket that FCCLA helped make. I want to call craft stores for donations, just not sure on how to start. I want to get a job and put half my paycheck toward my car/Europe fund (please visit Chip!) and then a fourth to me and Adam stuff and a fourth to the charity bears and blankets. The only problem is: no job.
I meant to call people today but totally forgot what with the busy week finally over and the UTK football game (and yes, I am one of those people who type UTK instead of just UT. Haha.). Hopefully I can call tomorrow. There's a lady at Baskin Robbins I hope to hear from soon, and then I'm sort of known with the manager at Kroger. Hopefully I get something.

Well, I'm off to do homework and stuff.

Hakuna Matata and Happy Journeying.

And the Hunt Begins

Unless you've lived under a rock for pretty much the last five years or so, you know of the awesome chances people have at getting jobs. Ha! Just kidding. The economy bites, there are no jobs, and thousands who need jobs. Now, I know a teenager wanting to go to Europe or get a car (please see Chip!) isn't exactly the one who needs a job most, but still, I'd rather bus tables and have money than sit around and have nada. And thus begins the Job Hunt.
Over the summer, beginning all the way back in May, I have been wandering around searching for a job. I've tried everywhere from the megasuperstore of them all, to the most disgustingly gross seafood restaurant which I'm happy to announce has been shut down. No where seems to like my application enough to give me a job.
One rousing incident occurred at a popular discount theater in town. I put in my application, talked to the manager (we'll call him Ed) several times and the job started to look very promising. I started slacking on my other efforts, once even never following up an on-the-spot interview. The last I heard from Ed was that my application had been sent to HR for look-over and all of that jazz and they'd either "get back to me" or call after a week. So, a week later, I call to find out that the previous manager, Ed, had quit his job, leaving the owner to sort through the pages. After an interview with the new manager and several calls, I still have nada and he's hired others. :/
Today, however, I'm going out on the town in search of a job. A friend of mine put in a good word for me at an ice cream place that he's leaving for a better job and maybe, just maybe, by the end of the week, I'll have my job,

Now, for the Homework Hunt. It shall too begin soon. For those that don't know me, my school load is HEAVY and includes (for the year) 3 AP classes, a Honors class and learning a new language (I'm taking Spanish, as, after 2 years of Latin and looking at General Education requirements at my chosen college, I wanted Spanish). So, obviously I'm loaded with homework to hunt and kill before finding my job.
I've wasted enough time, and I must go, but before, brief reminder:
My high school senior class is going on a trip over Spring Break to my two favorite places in the world: Italy and Germany. While many may not see that this trip is a necessity or anything of the sort, it is truly a once-in-a-lifetime trip. Study-abroad programs are, at the shortest, 3 weeks and I simply can't be away from my son for that long. However, a week-long trip with a large group and teachers from my school, Senior Trip is really my best option for ever seeing the world. And the only way to really get to Italy and Germany, would be by fundraising and beating the economy and finding a job (see above). Even if, by a crushing defeat, I'm not able to go to Europe (my first choice), or, (by a miracle), obtain enough funds to go to Europe and more, then I set out for my car. (I'll cry if my mommy has to drive me to college.)
So, if you're a kind, generous soul, please see Chip the ChipIn Widget to donate--every little bit counts.

Have a lovely day, and thanks for reading!

In a Nutshell...

Hey! Hola! Salve!
My name is Kayla and I am a senior at a local high school in Tennessee. Basically, you have stumbled upon my blog that, hopefully, will help out in some way bigger than thought. How exactly that will play out is yet to be discovered. =D Well, as you see, my title is Journey to Life, meaning that basically this will be a chronicle of my day to day life. No, I won't put every single thing I ate for breakfast or what my bizarre dream was about last night (though, no promises on the latter). Little bit about myself...
I am a teen mother, as my URL suggests, meaning I work very hard for my A averages. I love to write and want to earn up to my PhD's in both History and Education, which, may seem a bit ludicrous, but what can I say? My son and I love to play together, he's the star that will last forever. I love to read as well as write and my dream is to have at least one book published before I hit 30 (but somehow, I don't see this happening).
I have TONS of goals. The most helpful to others would be my project for a school chapter making 500 bears for cancer patient children, and 100 blankets for chemotherapy patients at a local hospital.
My more selfish goal is my dream to attend a senior trip over spring break to Germany and Italy. I honestly would give up a car to go to this wonderful trip, and I'm trying to raise money and work my booty off to get the money. (If you are a kind, charitable soul who wishes to donate, please click under "ChipIn" to learn how you can help!) However, any money that is raised, (if I can't go on my trip :( ) will go to buying a decent used car and college fund. As I said, I'm going big, so I'm looking at a decade in college. Shall be fun.

Well, I hope that if you found my blog, you'll stay with it. I look forward to blogging away all my worries!

Much love,
Kayla!
